American Horror Story Season 12 Episode 7 Recap

The episode opens with a flashback to ancient Western Europe, circa 42 A.D., where Ivy gives birth to twins in a desperate situation. She is assisted by a mysterious Woman in Black, who appears to have supernatural abilities. In 2013, Dex (Matt Czuchry) and Adeline are living in Brooklyn. Adeline is focused on opening her new restaurant and is reluctant to entertain her evil twin, Sonia, who tries to lure her back into a cult they escaped from. The encounter ends in a violent confrontation, leaving Sonia injured. Another flashback reveals Ivy’s past as a single mother in 13th-century Ireland, where she practices black magic to survive.

The flashback provides insight into Ivy’s character and her struggle for independence. Adeline receives a visit from Nicolette, who cryptically hints at Adeline’s past and the fate of her children. This prompts Adeline to take a pregnancy test, confirming her suspicions that she is pregnant with Dex’s child.

The episode reveals the true nature of the Women in Black, who are revealed to be a cult that bathes in the blood of unborn children to maintain their youth and beauty. Talia, Dex’s former girlfriend, is revealed to be among them. Dex visits his parents’ home and discovers the horrifying truth about his family. His father is shown engaging in a disturbing ritual with the Women in Black, involving the draining of Adeline’s blood. The episode ends with Dex confronting his father and the Women in Black, leading to a tense standoff. The true extent of the cult’s influence and the fate of Adeline and Dex’s unborn child remain uncertain.
