9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 5 Recap: You Don’t Know Me

“9-1-1” season 7, episode 5, is called “You Don’t Know Me,” and it shows how the first responders of the 118 deal with both personal problems and serious situations. As Buck (Oliver Stark), who is newly bisexual, goes on a first date with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), he continues to think about this. Eddie (Ryan Guzman), thinks about his friendship with Marisol (Edy Ganem). Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Karen (Tracie Thoms) get a new family member. As is typical for the show, though, there is also a tense situation involving a man whose hand seems to move violently and on its own.

9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 5 Recap

Fans were shocked when Buck and Tommy kissed last week, and this week Buck dealt with the fallout head-on. This episode of 9-1-1 was full of exciting events, from Buck’s terrible first date with Tommy to his honest confessions to Maddie and Eddie. Buck’s journey of self-discovery was the main focus of the show.

Tom and Buck’s First Date

Buck and Tommy’s first date was highly anticipated, but unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned. Buck looked worried, so Tommy tried to calm him down by telling him that people who work in their field are accepting. Things changed, though, when Eddie and Marisol showed up at the same place out of the blue.

Buck tried to impress Eddie by lying about his plans with Tommy because he felt under a lot of pressure. Because of this, there was an awkward moment, and Tommy finally chose to end the night by himself. Tommy showed his caring side by not blaming Buck for the bad date, even though it was awkward. He told Buck that he didn’t want to put any pressure on him and then walked away. Buck was disappointed but eager to find out more about how he felt.

Buck Comes Out to Maddie

After his failed date with Tommy goes badly, Buck goes to his sister Maddie for help. But it’s hard for him to find the right words to describe what happened. Maddie starts to make wild guesses, like whether Buck is dating a married woman or a famous person, because she feels like something is seriously wrong.

Buck finally gets up the nerve to tell everyone that he went on a date with a guy. Maddie is surprised at first, but she quickly changes her mind and starts to back them. She tells Buck that she doesn’t think he’s lying and tells him to take his time finding out how he feels. Buck feels better and more accepted when Maddie accepts and understands him.  Their talk was refreshingly honest, and it showed how close they are as siblings.

Eddie and Buck talks

In this episode, Eddie and Buck’s talk was a turning point in their relationship. Eddie finally gets Buck to talk about how he feels about Tommy and how he realized he was gay. Eddie is shocked by the news at first, but he quickly tells Buck that things will not change between them and shows his support. Eddie jokes with Buck that Tommy will love him even after seeing his “idiot” side. Eddie ends the talk by giving Buck a supportive hug. This solidifies their friendship and opens the door for a new period.

Eddie’s Relationship Struggles

At the same time, Eddie was having problems with his connection with Marisol He learns that Marisol used to want to become a nun, which makes him question their relationship. Eddie isn’t sure if he can live up to Marisol’s past goals and promises, which makes him feel inadequate and unsure.

Bobby, who is a faithful Catholic, tells Eddie that he is hesitant because he is afraid of making a commitment, not because of Marisol’s past. This talk with Marisol helps Eddie understand that he needs to take things slowly and not rush into a deeper engagement with her. Eddie and Marisol finally decide not to move in together. Instead, they choose to focus on building their relationship at a pace that works for both of them.

Hen and Karen’s Fostering Journey

This episode is about Hen and Karen’s journey as foster parents, which starts with their choice to take in nine-year-old Mara. At first, Mara has trouble communicating and acts out in bad ways, like cutting off an old teddy bear named Denny’s head and hitting Denny with a mug, which is very scary. She stands over Hen and Karen while they sleep.

The episode goes on to show that Mara’s behavior is caused by a stressful event: she called 911 after finding her parents dead from an opioid overdose. This new information helps us understand Mara’s behavior better, and it makes Hen and Karen more compassionate. Even though it’s hard, Hen and Karen are still determined to help Mara get over the bad things that happened to her in the past.

Maddie and Chimney’s Wedding Drama

The day of Maddie and Chimney’s wedding comes, but it is full of trouble in this episode. Buck and Eddie are late and messy, which makes think there might be a problem like in The Hangover. But things get really strange when Chimney is nowhere to be found. People who watched the show will be wondering what happened to Chimney and if the wedding will go as planned after it ends. This plot adds a dramatic and unexpected twist to the show and sets the stage for possible problems and solutions in later episodes.

Case of the Day

Alien Hand Syndrome, a strange and dangerous condition affecting a self-help guru, started the show. As he spoke to a crowd, his hand suddenly turned against him, putting him and everyone else around him in danger. Hen quickly figured out what was wrong and sprang into action, solving the mystery of his illness and making sure he got the medical care he needed. In conclusion, this episode of 9-1-1 had funny, sad, and surprising turns that set the stage for what will happen next in Buck’s journey, Eddie and Marisol’s relationship, and the problems the 118 team is still having.
