‘The Lazarus Project’ Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

In this episode, the story unfolds through a series of flashbacks and present-day events. Archie and Ross, coworkers at The Lazarus Project, form a strong friendship as they watch a missile strike that they are powerless to stop in a flashback to the summer of 2018. Sarah (Charly Clive), a participant in The Lazarus Project, is critically injured after being hit by a garbage truck in the present. Sarah’s romantic interest, George, remembers their first meeting in 2018. George becomes focused on the concept of going back in time to save Sarah as memories return. Archie clarifies that interfering with time for personal gain could have disastrous repercussions.

Archie and Ross work on a mission to stop a missile assault in another flashback. They confess their love for one another, but their strategy is unsuccessful, and the attack still takes place. George runs across Shiv in the present, who offers him the chance to exact revenge on the person who caused Sarah’s condition. George says he wants to get back to a certain checkpoint in time to stop Sarah’s accident, though.

While discussing their future plans in the midst of the pandemonium, Archie and Ross find themselves in a life-or-death predicament. Despite being shot, Archie wakes up next to Jim at the checkpoint on July 1. Jim learns from Archie’s confession that she no longer loves him. Later, Rebrov, a terrorist who has been imprisoned, is confronted by George and Shiv. Rebrov opposes The Lazarus Project and its meddling with the natural world. Despite continuously failing, Archie and Ross continue their endeavor, trying different plans to save the planet.

Ross admits that he delayed their attempt to revive Archie after she was shot. Archie feels that he is prioritizing her over their job, which infuriates him. Ross tragically gives his life to halt the missile attack, breaking Archie’s heart. George receives a call notifying him that Sarah has passed away in the present, and Archie is pleading with Wes (Caroline Quentin) to go back in time so that Ross might be brought back to life. George begs Rebrov (Tom Burke) to go back to the July 1 checkpoint so that he can bring Sarah back on his visit. George’s tenacity puts everything in jeopardy. George’s decision to change time is still up in the air at the episode’s conclusion, underscoring the potential repercussions of interfering with history.
