Revenant Season 1 Episode 6 Recap

In episode 6 of Revenant, the plot takes another intriguing turn. Gu San-Yeong (Kim Tae-ri) finds herself drifting further away from her own identity as the evil spirit’s possession becomes deeper. She decides to distance herself from her loved ones to protect them. Meanwhile, Yeom Hae-Sang (Oh Jung-se) visits his grandmother’s house and discovers their strained relationship. His grandmother dismisses his claims of seeing strange things, fueling his curiosity even more. Hae-Sang’s investigation leads him to believe that certain objects, including a pottery piece and a hair accessory, are connected to a special juvenile ghost named Lee Mokdan.

San-Yeong’s mother takes the inheritance left behind by San-Yeong’s paternal grandmother, prompting San-Yeong to leave a note for her mother and live away from her. Hae-Sang believes that sealing these objects with a line of prohibition in a place where the evil spirit has caused death might rid San-Yeong of possession. Meanwhile, a new type of ghost, known as a hungry ghost or begging ghost, emerges in the story. These ghosts exploit the desires of the possessed person and kill others to fulfill those desires.

A mysterious murder case involving an influencer and a stolen luxury bag comes to light. Detective Lee Hong-Sae (Hong Kyung), determined to solve the case and advance his career, investigates the incident. As the events unfold, San-Yeong discovers undeveloped films in her father’s old home, depicting the realm of hungry ghosts and Hae-Sang’s previous residence. Hong-Sae and Hae-Sang join forces to uncover the truth, while San-Yeong realizes that the evil spirit has shown her the realm of hungry ghosts not because of Semi, but because of Hae-Sang’s friend who was associated with it.

The possessed individual is ultimately revealed to be Yoonjung, who had desires for wealth and luxury. San-Yeong intervenes to prevent Yoonjung from causing harm and saves her target. Yoonjung, overwhelmed by guilt, attempts suicide but is taken to the hospital by San-Yeong and Hae-Sang. In a surprising twist, San-Yeong admits her own desires for money and acknowledges that the evil spirit acted on her impulses to make extravagant purchases. Hae-Sang decides to continue his research alone to protect San-Yeong.

The episode concludes with Hae-Sang visiting the maker of the prohibition rope used by his mother and San-Yeong’s father. Meanwhile, San-Yeong visits Hae-Sang’s house and communicates with a ghost who reveals that there is more to the story. Hae-Sang discovers a connection between his mother and San-Yeong’s father, suggesting that his mother may hold the answers they seek. The episode ends on a mysterious note, leaving viewers eager to see what will unfold in the next episode of Revenant.
