Netflix The Kitchen Pays Tribute to Jono

Netflix’s dystopian drama “The Kitchen” takes fans on an exciting journey through a near-future version of London. It tells the touching story of Izi (Kanes Robinson from Top Boy) and Benji (Jedaiah Bannerman), a 12-year-old boy. The movie was directed by Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya. Netflix’s “The Kitchen” pays tribute to the late Jonathan “Jono” Gales, who was the film’s VFX creative director, touchingly and emotionally.

 Who Was Jono?

“Jono” Gales was the film’s VFX creative director and co-founder of Factory Fifteen. Jono Gales died in a terrible car accident in downtown Los Angeles on November 19, 2022. He was a bright artist who made things like the BAFTA-winning Tokyo 2020 Olympics trailer.

Even though Jonathan “Jono” Gales made important contributions to “The Kitchen,” he was also a creative force in building, animation, and filmmaking. Gales was born in New Jersey and studied design at the University of Brighton and then at the Bartlett School of design, where he started Factory Fifteen with Paul Nicholls and Kibwe Tavares.

Gales was an active artist who showed his work in important places like the Royal Academy of Arts London. He also won awards like the Architectural 3D Awards 2011 and the Fitzroy Robinson Drawing Prize 2011. His membership in Dulwich Paragon and the Herne Hill Velodrome shows how much he loved riding. It gave him a dynamic quality.

In addition to his important part in Factory Fifteen, Gales made a lasting mark on projects like the Tokyo 2020 Olympics trailer, which won a BAFTA, and his work with Formula 1, the British Film Institute, and Film 4.

How Did Jono Die?

A terrible car crash in downtown Los Angeles took the life of Jonathan “Jono” Gales. Two people on foot were hit by a car driven by a person who was thought to be drunk on November 19, 2022. The driver was allegedly going fast the wrong way down a one-way street. After the first crash with Gales and another pedestrian, the driver tried to leave the scene of the crime. The attempt to get away didn’t last long because the driver crashed into another car nearby.

On a one-way street, Gales, 36, was one of two people hit by a driver who was thought to be drunk. His untimely death left a huge hole in the creative world. Co-founders Paul Nicholls and Kibwe Tavares sent heartfelt texts in which they called him a “steadfast creative partner” and talked about how they felt like they had lost a part of themselves.

People who knew Jonathan Gales personally and professionally say that he was a caring husband and father with a bubbly personality and a fascination for world culture. His memory goes beyond the creative world and affects the lives of those who knew him.
