FX hasn’t revealed Dave Season 3 yet, but from Dave’s Deadline conversation, we can infer that Dave Season 3 is on the way and we can expect it to arrive soon. Dave said, in Season 1, I was obviously very proud, and in Season 2, I was like, “I want to be more emotional and tonight, I want to make a little change.” Next season, I couldn’t tell you for sure… I feel like Season 3 is going to be the funniest season anyone has ever made of television. But this is so subject to change.
When Dave was asked about a film or TV project, he said, “I don’t really want to speak on that, but I’m definitely thinking about writing a movie as well.” So, I’m working on that.
Plus the Gata story is a coming-of-age story. It’s like, literally, GaTa is “Dave”. GaTa’s real name is Davionte, and his family calls him Dave; He’s also Dave. The whole season, both my character and Gata’s character, [felt like] all this chaos for both of us to independently reach our goals. I think the finale is about us cutting through the clutter and getting back to the root of why we love each other before, and that’s what our relationship and our friendship are all about.
About a main character on a show that, especially this season, is so focused on becoming exactly what we thought you could forget that your relationships and the other human beings involved are just as important as their lives. Matters as much as your life. Even if you think you’ve come to be a great entertainer, that doesn’t stop you from sabotaging someone else’s dreams. So, I think there was a lot of conflict between me and Gata in this episode. But at the end of the day, it looks like we’re on the same team, and so is GaTa Dave.
In general the show is clearly about the story of my life – clearly. [What it represents is] not always completely true, and I didn’t makeup Gata. [While] many of the other characters are just characters, Gata is a real boy. He’s actually one of my best friends, so as much as it’s my life, it’s kind of become Gata’s life story as well. He’s kind enough to allow me to tell his story, so in the end, I really wanted to make him proud. Because I love gata and everybody loves gata. He is the sweetest man in the world.

Hoping to break his writer’s block, Dave enlists famed record producer and former Columbia co-president Rick Rubin to help break writer’s block. Everyone congratulates Dave, except Rick. Dave goes through a series of exercises, rather than recording directly. He tries to bury his biggest fear. Dave meets another guest by the name of Biff. After burying his greatest fears, which include the death and success of his parents. Dave comes to terms with his ego. And finally reaching the deepest corner of his mind, he encounters Ally Wernick, (Taylor Misiak).
