What is the reason behind Chris Noth’s removal from The Equalizer?

Chris Noth’s character William Bishop was written out of the CBS show The Equalizer in the January 2 episode “Separated.” Noth was fired from the show after multiple women accused him of sexual assault. Since then, he has refuted the charges. Noth’s final appearance on “The Equalizer” was in the Season 2 episode “Separated,” which aired on Jan. 2 and was filmed before he was fired from the show on Dec. 20. Since then, six episodes have aired, none of which featured Noth’s Bishop, including tonight’s “Pulse,” which provided an in-universe explanation for the character’s absence and ended with his off-screen death.

After a thorough investigation by The Hollywood Reporter, it was found that two women, using the pseudonyms “Zoe” and “Lily,” approached the publication months apart and presented their sexual assault charges against Noth. The assaults, they claimed, took place in Los Angeles in 2004 and New York in 2015. The charges were “categorically false,” according to Noth, who claimed the interactions were voluntary.
