“The Conners” has reached a big milestone with its 100th episode, “Smash and Grab and Happy Death Day.” A lot of shows celebrate these kinds of episodes with big events, but “The Conners” does something different by focusing on feelings and nostalgia. The Conners takes viewers on an emotional ride as the family deals with a critical lesson about life and death. There are two major plots in this episode.

The Conners Season 6 Episode 7 Recap

At the beginning of the episode, Becky talks about how upset and guilty she feels about not being able to buy her daughter Beverly Rose nice birthday gifts. At the same time, a group of teens robs Ben’s hardware shop using a “smash and grab” method, which makes Dan (John Goodman) angry. Even though Dan caught one of the teens, the cops take their time coming because they think it’s just a small property crime. Dan and Jackie (Laurie Metcalf)  decide to “interrogate” the girl they have caught themselves because of this.

In a touching moment, Darlene (Sara Gilbert) explains death to Beverly Rose, who doesn’t know that everyone dies at some point. This talk starts because Beverly Rose is interested in looking at pictures of her dead relatives. Becky (Lecy Goranson ) tells Darlene that she hasn’t talked to her daughter about death because it hurts too much to remember losing her husband Mark.

After that Becky talks about death with her daughter Beverly Rose, and Darlene gives her an honest opinion. This conversation brings up painful memories of Becky’s late husband Mark’s death, which makes the sisters angry at each other. But in the end, they agree on some things, and Becky talks about Mark’s death again with her daughter to help her learn about it. This moving moment shows how Becky has grown and is now ready to talk about tough topics so that her daughter can understand and be emotionally healthy.

Jackie decides to let the young woman go even though the cops are taking too long to arrive. She sees similarities between the robber’s problems and her own. She tells Dan that her boyfriend is forcing her to do it. Jackie’s kindness and sense of right and wrong are shown by this act of understanding and care.

Overall, “Smash and Grab and Happy Death Day” is a touching episode that shows how deeply the characters on “The Conners” feel. Even though it doesn’t have the big events that usually come with 100th episodes, this one is still important because it focuses on character growth and touching moments.
