SWAT Season 6 Episode 3 Recap

Guys with firearms and duffle bags break into an office building and take the workers hostage. At Nichelle’s centre, Deacon and Street are doing volunteer work and bringing in some donations. Since Annie promised to bake a cake, Nichelle offers Deacon an envelope containing the baby’s gender. To neutralise the shooters and save the hostages, the squad draws up to the office. No one was shot, and nobody dialled 911 when Deacon, Tan, and Street freed the prisoners. Hondo believes that this is a diversion, but it’s unclear for what. Black Betty is nowhere to be found, her tracker is on the ground, and the shooters are dressed as S.W.A.T. officials when Luca and Hondo leave the building. Street and Luca watch footage from Betty’s dashcam from two weeks ago, in which they observe a man in a hoodie replicating Luca’s key. Street tries to get Deacon to phone the doctor’s office even though he will already know the gender after Deacon discloses to Street that he put Nichelle’s envelope in Black Betty because he didn’t want to take it on a call.

Luca accuses himself of taking Black Betty, and Hondo tries to reason with him. They obtain a hit on someone called Bryce McCabe after knocking on doors in the neighborhood where Luca’s key was copied. When Hondo and Deacon enter McCabe’s home to investigate, the FBI, including Agent Vasquez, whom Hondo formerly worked with in the Hollywood Division, hit them with a flashbang. She caves when Hondo tries to persuade her to team up with him to bring McCabe down. The FBI has been keeping an eye on McCabe for the past two years, and whatever his plans are, they are not good. Deacon reveals to Tan and Street that Hicks, despite being a top officer, served on the committee that decided not to give Vasquez a seat on S.W.A.T. when she was a patrol officer. Hicks acknowledges that he erred in rejecting her application. Deacon is able to confirm the gender of the infant: a girl! Unfortunately, Street and another officer overheard it. Before Hondo hears the news, Street and Deacon must now decide what to do. The S.W.A.T.-style gunmen drive up to a bank in Black Betty and order everyone out. Vasquez and 20-Squad arrive on the scene, McCabe starts firing, and the gunman is shortly down. McCabe and the rest of his crew depart in Betty, but Vasquez allows them to flee before Luca can catch up with them.

FBI Vasquez thinks McCabe is the key since he worked with the bomber, Varner, in a bombing that occurred a few years ago, despite the fact that there is no case at the FBI established around McCabe. If they want to eliminate Varner and McCabe, Hondo advises that they let the situation develop. They question the gunman they detained in an effort to learn more. Street informs Luca, who is still upset about what happened, that they believe McCabe may be planning to use Black Betty in a terrorist act. Luca acknowledges that he performed better than his father and grandfather on a driving competence test, which is why he feels the need to operate a vehicle. Street reassures him that he has taught him a lot about the profession, but not about driving. McCabe delivers Black Betty and a box of explosive-grade yellowcake uranium to Varner. When real S.W.A.T. approaches them, there is a gunfight. Varner tries to flee by going after Betty, and he and McCabe get into the car and almost manage to escape, but Luca stops them with armor-piercing rounds. Deacon asks Luca whether Betty has one more mission left in her before they drag her away for maintenance as a new engine that is better than the one she had is being installed. Vasquez and Hondo catch up, settling the situation. Nichelle arrives at HQ after receiving a message from Hondo, but Hondo insists he didn’t send her one. While Black Betty was being furious about something, Luca was upset about something else. However, when he opened the back, pink balloons and streamers emerged. And everyone continues to be joyful.
