Supergirl Season 6 Episode 9 Recap
Nia has a dream in which she sees her mother. Nyxly interrupts Nia’s slumber. For a game night, Kara, Alex, Kelly, Nia, and J’onn get together. Kelly tells them about Joey, an orphaned extraterrestrial youngster with EMP abilities with whom she will be collaborating. Andrea wants Kara, Nia, and William to figure out how to conduct interviews with the Super Friends. When Nia falls asleep, Andrea sends her home for a mental health day. Andrea sets a 24-hour deadline for Kara and William to conduct an interview with a Super Friend. A string of truck robberies is investigated by Kara and J’onn. They suspect that an Obscuran and a Metalomite are collaborating on a bomb. Kelly pays a visit to Joey’s foster family. His foster mother claims that he began acting out following a monthly visit to his brother in prison, Orlando. Joey informs Kelly that his brother is suffering from an illness.
In her dream, Nia tries to contact her mother. Nyxly reappears and informs Nia that she is trapped in her dreams. She tells Nia that she has been banished and has lost her powers. Nyxly informs Nia that if she helps her escape, she will be able to help her by resurrecting her mother for one day. Kara and Kelly meet with the warden at Van Kull prison to discuss Orlando and his work-release program. He says he’ll check in with him. On his way to work, Kara follows Orlando. He and the other aliens are being compelled to steal against their will, she discovers. They have ties to previous truck robberies. Kara and J’onn attempt to stop them, but they manage to getaway. The warden holds a press conference to make it appear as if the inmates plotted their escape and kidnapped a guard.
Kara informs the warden of her discoveries. When they find the escapees, he promises her that he will conduct a thorough internal inquiry. Nia returns to her dream and declines Nyxly’s offer. Kara and William discover that the warden has a considerable amount of money stashed away in a hidden offshore bank account. They fear he is being influenced by the mob. The warden summons the guard, who informs him that the alien employees will die soon. Joey’s foster mother abuses him with his power-dissipating shackles, according to video evidence obtained by Kelly. Alex discovers the location of the extraterrestrial employees. Kara and J’onn enter the warehouse and dispatch the guards. Kara removes the aliens’ power-diminishing restraints. They try to flee, but Kara persuades them to accompany her and J’onn. The warden and the guards have been apprehended. Supergirl gives William an exclusive interview. Joey and Orlando are reunited by Kelly. Orlando was granted clemency by a judge. Kelly informs Alex that she wishes to take over as Guardian. Kelly receives the Guardian helmet from Alex. It was sent to her by James. Nia returns to her dream and agrees to Nyxly’s terms.
