Succession Season 3 Episode 7 Recap

Kendall begins by performing a cover of Billy Joel’s “Honesty,” selected to highlight his current social justice attitude after uncovering Waystar’s misdeeds. Then Shiv (Snook) and Roman (Culkin) work on a pitch for Gojo owner Lukas Matsson (Skarsgrd). Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) keeps scrolling through jail sites on his phone, and everyone wonders who will be attending Kendall’s big party. Finally, Gerri (J. Smith-Cameron) informs the main Waystar crew that incarceration appears to be off the table due to the Department of Justice liking the company overhaul. Tom, relieved, excuses himself to visit Greg (Nicholas Braun).

The figures for Kendall’s next party show that eighty percent of A-listers have RSVP’d but his siblings haven’t. When Shiv and Roman realize Lukas is no longer coming to their meeting, they have just one option… to attend Kendall’s party where Lukas is also expected to appear. Logan offers Roman a card addressed to Kendall before leaving his office. That night, the Roy youngsters dress up to secure Waystar’s next big transaction and cause havoc. Kendall’s World is the party’s theme, and everyone who attends is born into it. The party’s ostentatiousness continues when the siblings seek out Kendall in his VIP area. Kendall ushers his brothers about after some light joking and the birthday boy receiving Logan’s card. Connor (Alan Ruck) dislikes it since it refers to a personal event. Kendall removes the photographs after noticing his brother’s reaction, but tension builds.

Kendall leaves to socialize, but not before opening Logan’s card and reading the note inside: “cash out and f**k off.” He tells Naomi (Annabelle Dexter-Jones) about the gift, and she asks how much he contributed. When she hears two billion, she can’t help but try to persuade Kendall. Then Comfry (Dasha Nekrasova), Kendall’s PR lady, ruins Tom’s plans to take her out by revealing that Kendall wants to publicly burn Greg to bolster his case against Waystar and Logan. She pledges to be gentle, but she leaves him tongue-tied and worried.

Kendall questions Shiv and Roman at the entrance to his treehouse area of the party, enraged about the card and see what his siblings’ attendance means. They confess they come for business, but they’re denied admission to Lukas’ private section. Shiv is enraged when she learns of Logan and Roman’s card to Kendall. Shiv storms off, leaving Roman behind as Kendall enters the treehouse. And Lukas who is too cool for the rest of the party is obsessed with his phone. He advises the businessman that his siblings are hunting and he should stay in the treehouse. Kendall then goes to talk to Rava (Natalie Gold), who stops by briefly. Kendall tells her he might leave the firm after reading Logan’s offer, and that the Roys’ “goons” had been following their kids around.

Kendall is enraged when he finds that his children sent a present that got lost in the shuffle of his large party. Kendall finds Comfry and the rest of his PR team after leaving Rava and tells them he thinks the party is for a**holes and that the atmosphere needs to be changed. Greg visits Kendall to enquire about his planned media burning and brings about asking Comfry out. Kendall then calls his relative a parasite that needs to leach off of others. No matter how much Kendall denies it, he is clearly offended by Greg asking Comfry out, resulting in a tense confrontation between the relatives.

Shiv asks Tom if he knew about Logan’s offer to buy out Kendall, but Tom says he didn’t. To let off some stress, she takes to the dance floor for some impressive freestyle routines. Aside from Connor, Willa (Justin Lupe) defends her guy as he is frequently asked to turn over his coat due to Kendall’s party rules. Roman, meanwhile, has snuck inside the treehouse and approaches Lukas to discuss business. Kendall cancels his planned performance as his party spirals out of control. When Kendall’s back is turned, his crew silently sighs with relief. Instead, he searches for the birthday gift his kids left him, while Greg conjures up the nerve to ask Comfry out.

Naomi gives Kendall her gift, a watch, to cheer him up. His reply is less than joyful as he attempts to comprehend her gifting decision. Despite Naomi’s apology, it’s evident that more than just her present is bothering Kendall. The mood darkens in “the compliments tunnel” as Greg and Tom discuss avoiding jail time. Tom can’t even fake delight as he laments about taking the wrong medications. On the other hand, Shiv meets up with Roman and inquires about Lukas. Roman is evasive, further irritating his sister. They insult one other, especially when Roman says Shiv is furious because Tom isn’t going to jail.

Kendall is being led out by Naomi when he runs across his brothers again. Roman’s sarcastic remark flips Kendall’s head, and he goes on the attack. Kendall informs Roman he isn’t genuine and requests the family to stop harassing his kids. Ken’s kids are being spied upon, Roman reveals to Shiv. When Kendall turns to leave, Roman pushes him, causing him to fall face-first to the floor. The humiliating event capped off a celebration that went wrong from the start. As Tom and Shiv depart the event, Roman contacts Logan to congratulate him on his accomplishment, and Naomi is left to console the guy in his apartment.
