The series debut of NCIS Season 21 introduced viewers to the tragic plot point of Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard’s (the late David McCallum) death. At the start of the episode, Special Agent Nick Torres (played by Wilmer Valderrama) is being accused of murder for the death of Maurice Riva, a man who used to scare Torres’ family. But it turns out that the real killer was Reymundo De Leon’s mother, a jailed friend of Torres’s who confessed to the crime and freed Torres.

At the end of the show, Torres gives Parker his badge and gun back, but Parker tells him to take things one day at a time. At the end of the show, the sad news of Dr. Ducky Mallard’s death comes out. In the next tribute episode, Ducky’s death will be shown while the team works on one of his open cases. In the next tribute episode, “The Stories We Leave Behind,” the NCIS team will be sad about Ducky while working on one of his open cases. The episode, which was written by Brian Dietzen and EP Scott Williams, is meant to celebrate both McCallum and Ducky. Instead of just showing clips of Ducky’s most memorable moments, the episode will focus on a case related to the death of a valuable team member. This will show how important it is to leave stories for our loved ones.

NCIS 21×02 Synopsis: As NCIS mourns the loss of Ducky, the agents find comfort in working on one of his unfinished cases involving a woman whose father was dishonorably discharged from the Marines.

NCIS Season 21 Episode 2 will air on CBS at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Monday, Feb 19, 2024. The event will be available for online viewing on CBS.com and Paramount+.
