Law and Order: OC Season 3 Episode 2 Recap

Sergeant Bell attended a political function. She recently divorced and dated Detective Stabler. Stabler dislikes politics. He disliked the subject. Silas’ family hosted dinner. Silas family was the city’s biggest developer. Their family business dated back generations, making them one of the city’s most renowned families. A man wouldn’t leave his flat, delaying their project. Henry Cole was there for 20 years. He wouldn’t leave. Long-term tenants have rights. Cole couldn’t be pushed or paid off, so he blocked a rich casino. The casino was NYC’s first. The Silas family has donated millions to the project, so Stabler joked to Bell that she should have brought Cole as her date. The joke was overheard. Teddy Silas was nearby. Stabler’s words upset Teddy. His father had to smooth over his rudeness with Stabler. The two left.

Teddy’s dad reprimanded him for making a scene. Robert Silas stated Teddy couldn’t pick fights with just anyone to be on top in the city. Teddy’s wife Pearl agreed. She told him he’d take over one day and couldn’t jeopardize their future. He’d become city king. Leave the casino and concentrate on things. Teddy tried, but Cole distracted him. The man risked their future, he thought. He discussed continuing construction notwithstanding Cole with the foreman. The foreman knew he had to keep working or be dismissed. Cole died, therefore Teddy’s words didn’t matter. Cole fell off his stairwell. Everyone suspected he was inebriated when he fell. Stabler suspected otherwise first. Stabler doesn’t follow news or social media. Teddy told him about Cole’s accident and invited him to the casino’s launch. Teddy reported Cole’s death. Stabler listened, then hung up. Later, Stabler rushed to work. He told his sergeant to investigate Cole’s death, but she refused. She suggested he take the new detective to lunch. Stabler faked it. Not him. He called Detective Jamie Whelan. Cole’s condo. Other than rats, nothing stuck out. Only the beat cop who called Stabler a rat was out of place. Whelan backed Stabler. Stabler told him to stay outside while he supervised the beat cop.

Stabler instructed Whelan not to fight his battles. Whelan refused. He thinks dirty cops make the job more dangerous for decent ones. Saying so garnered Stabler’s esteem. Stabler never showed that. Bell told Stabler to remain away from the case, therefore he got in trouble. The team found something by then. Rats poisoned Cole. Rats attacked him. Cole fell due to contagious delirium. Stabler recalled mobsters. The mob killed victims with rats. Stabler knew it ended there. Experts told Jet that the rats that killed Cole weren’t native to New York. They were foreigners. Experts have rats. Jet received the information via the dark web. Stabler received it. Bell forgave Stabler after they talked about him starting an investigation without his knowledge.

STABLER RESPECTS HER He regretted making her doubt it. Stabler apologized. Bell admitted her wife had filed for divorce. She didn’t know how to change her wife’s opinion, and Stabler conceded he was a bad husband. His late wife made his marriage work long-term. Unlike Bell’s wife. Her task was interrupted by Bell’s. Bell had been testy that day, but chatting to Stabler helped, and he was right about Cole. They found the rat seller. He showed them security footage of a hooded man carrying his Starbucks coffee. They used Starbucks to find him. Kenny Michael Kyle. He wasn’t related to Silas. Kenny was hospitalized after being bitten by rats, thus he was connected to the foreman. He left the hospital for a club. The foreman was there. The foreman sent someone else to handle Kenny when they recognized each other. Kenny spotted the  police. The club escapee stole an automobile. He nearly hit Stabler but missed. It looks like murder now.
