Dave Season 3 Episode 3 [Hearsay] In Atlanta, Dave and GaTa meet Rick Ross

Dave Lands Season 3

Dave Burd’s real rap persona, Lil Dicky, is satirized in “Dave,” which follows a fictionalized version of Burd who uses his neuroses and risqué sense of humor to great effect in his hit rap songs. His silly songs, many of which are about his penis, have made him the “Eminem of the YouTube Generation.” In the third season, Lil Dicky has made it big, so the action moves to a tour bus, nightclubs, and the fans themselves. It’s an entire season dedicated to the question of what a man who’s built his life on a foundation of neurotic fear should do when everyone wants a piece of him. Dave Season 3 Episode 1 Recap

Over the course of those years, Dave went through a severe lack of inspiration, moved back in with his parents, and alienated nearly everyone who was significant to him, including his (now-ex) girlfriend Ally, hype man GaTa, roommate and manager Mike, a childhood friend, and producer Elz, and old coworker and graphic designer Emma. In the premiere episode sets up the fundamental dynamics of Dave and GaTa’s Looking for Love Tour bus in a snap. Dave has made amends with most of the friends he had threatened to lose: he is now on more equal footing with GaTa (though Dave still has far more name recognition), and Mike is still doing his best to keep things going smoothly. Emma is filming a documentary about the tour, and Elz is accompanying them as a DJ and sound engineer. Ally is the lone key player who has gone missing. The journey takes us to a new location in America with its own unique plot.

Dave, having ruined his relationship with Taylor Misiak‘s Ally, is looking to connect with someone who appreciates him for more than just his celebrity status. The vibrations between him and the woman he meets in Texas are first positive, but they quickly turn negative. Dave is a hopeless romantic in the pilot, and he falls for a girl who pretends not to recognize him outside a bar. He visits her again for a home party when he learns that the younger generation may be even stranger than he is

The second episode follows the creates a music video based on his past experiences. The story is about the close bond he had as a child with a girl who lived in his old neighborhood in Philadelphia. He makes a music video for a new single by Lil Dicky, which he hopes will help him appeal to women.  Lil Dicky follows it back to his boyhood home in an attempt to helm a music video for a track about his first real love, a preteen girl he became fascinated with. He eventually includes the real girl played by Jane Levy in the video, but she has a different recollection of the events.  There are several amazing one-shots through the chaotic music video set, making this episode one of the best in the series so far. An intriguing revelation closes out this episode.

We witness how much room for artistic and personal development there is in him as he becomes increasingly angry with the people who are trying to realize his vision including Emma, who is trying in vain to gain his trust.  Emma takes over the final few seconds of the video after Dave hands over creative control. He assures her of his trust in her, suggesting that he hasn’t completely lost his bearings and is undermining all of his connections at once again, but it’s hard not to sense that many of their run-ins could have been prevented had he paid more attention to her advice from the start. Dave Season 3 finds its footing, with each character remaining a great delight to be around and each cast member entertaining in their own unique ways.
