Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 18 Recap

Boden stops by a food store on his way to work in the first episode. He misplaced a few things, but his forgetfulness comes back to haunt him as men storm the business and kidnap the people inside. While the man appeared to be insane at first, Boden was able to calm him down by telling him he was a firefighter. The man, whose name we learn is Will, was injured in the frantic rush to secure the grocery store and is bleeding profusely. Boden offers to assist him with his wound, establishing a level of confidence between them. Boden, behaving like a true pro, also requests assistance for a woman who is injured and lying on the ground. Will had accidentally run her over with his automobile when breaking through the building, and she suffered a badly damaged leg as a result. Boden is able to re-establish the leg while interrogating Will about his history.

Will turns out to be an escaped prisoner who was imprisoned for his role as the lookout during a prior crime. He ended up enduring the full wrath of the law despite merely being an accomplice, and his time in prison culminated in him being assaulted by the Latin Kings. When he requested assistance from the guards, he was swiftly dismissed.   While empathising with Will, Boden reminds him that no one in the store can die on his watch, or he’ll be facing prison time. Boden is given permission to search the back of the store for more victims, and he finds a few, but he pretends they aren’t there so they may flee. Boden had been messaging the 51 members the entire time, indicating that they were aware of his presence inside the business. However, the more he and Will discuss, the more Will believes that giving up is the best option. The only issue is that one of the hostages perishes. Boden is able to deduce that the hostage did not die as a result of Will’s actions, but the fugitive is afraid of being blamed and wants to commit suicide by cop. Fortunately, Boden was able to persuade Will to surrender, promising to testify that the lone civilian death was not his fault. The matter is calmly resolved, and Boden is able to exit the store in one piece.
