Is Jackie killed in the first season of Yellowjackets?

It was inevitable that a significant character would die in the Yellowjackets season 1 finale on Showtime this weekend. What character would it be, and how would they die, was the question. JACKIE! This isn’t someone we expected to be removed from the equation so quickly. She was so crucial to the early episodes of this show that, while we expected her to be gone, we didn’t expect her to be killed so soon.

On Yellowjackets, who is the Antler Queen?

Return to the very beginning of the series and that ceremonial, horrific sequence where we saw several of the survivors wearing various masks constructed from materials found in the forest for further context. The character is known as Antler Queen, who wore the most extravagant headdress of them all, is at the center of it all. They may be the faction’s leader, and if nothing else, it demonstrates how much these characters change over their time away from society.

Lottie appears to be the most plausible candidate to be behind that mask, owing to her apparent clairvoyance and how, over time, this could allow her to have more influence over the other crash survivors. some fans may also claim that this is how Taissa came to be such a powerful leader. Misty appears to be the only one we can rule out, which is amusing given that she is now one of the most deranged characters.

Yellowjackets Episode 9 Recap

Shauna confronts Adam, inquiring about his identity. She accuses him of blackmail and demands the return of her missing journals. When Shauna discovers a stack of books concerning Flight 2525 in his drawer, she quickly notices that the code for the safe was also the flight number. Shauna grabs a knife right away. Shauna is enthralled as images of the past pour through, refusing to listen to Adam’s pleas. She stabs him with the knife and stands there watching him bleed out on the floor. Shauna returns home and inquires about the glitter in the closet with Jeff.   His activities are linked to the store; he is being blackmailed by the other Yellowjackets because he is losing business to his competitors. He wanted to go after Taissa in particular, determined to scrounge up enough cash to pay for the store and keep it from closing. Worse, Jeff borrowed money from loan sharks. He appears to have paid them back, but the store is still in risk. It’s at this point that Shauna confesses to stabbing Adam. She initially believes he is blackmailing her and exposes his affair with Bianca.

It turned out, however, that Jeff was not having an affair. The loan shark’s name was Bianca, and he had to repay her. He’d never had an affair in the first place, which leaves Shauna stunned – and reeling when Jeff rejects her confession. While they consider their options, Jeff decides to go to the cops and accept responsibility for stabbing Adam. Shauna cautions Jeff that the situation is more complicated than that. The blackmail would soon be discovered, and to make matters worse, his best buddy, Randy, is also aware of the Yellowjackets’ fate. If this incriminating information became public, it would be disastrous for their relationship. Secrets have characterized their relationship for the past few years, and it appears that the only way to save it now is to accept it.

Jeff decides that the other girls should believe Adam is the blackmailer. Back in the bush, Jackie’s pessimism eventually leads to the girls agreeing to throw a party if only to stave off the impending starvation and calamity. Jackie believes they’re all going to die anyhow, so they decide to celebrate “Doomcoming,” their own version of Homecoming. They even had some fermented fruit that could have turned into bourbon. Jackie continues to dance around the reality while alone in the woods. She’s aware of what happened to Shauna and chooses to try to win Travis over, which will almost surely lead to conflict with Nat. Jackie remarks to her friend, “Gosh, I wouldn’t want to compete with you for a boy Shauna,” but the connotations are lost on Shauna. Misty slipped off into the woods, picking up mushrooms she’d stored away, and placed them wrapped in a cloth next to the kettle instead passes unobserved. “You’ve been holding out on us!” the others exclaim when she leaves them unattended. Misty can only give a weak smile because it appears she had other plans.

The Doomcoming is quickly underway, and everyone is dressed to the nines. Tai stands by Van’s side, improvising masks for the two of them to blend in. Misty stands there watching as everyone begins to consume the mushroom-laced meal. Lottie organizes a silent memorial to Laura, finally humming as she stares at the campfire’s swirling flames. The other girls begin to join in and sing as well, and they all begin to dance together.  After all of this, Jackie invites Travis to dance, which obviously enrages Nat. So, of course, she whisks Coach away to share a drink. Jackie puts it on with Travis inside after they depart. Travis rejects her and inquires about Natalie, eventually confessing his feelings for her. This is the final straw for Jackie, who tells Travis what transpired between Jeff and Shauna straight out.

Travis starts kissing her since she’s in so much pain. It’s unclear whether he’s acting entirely out of pity, but when Jackie expresses feeling like a shell of the person she used to be, he reacts. The girls decide to check on Jackie and Travis now that the mushrooms have taken full impact. However, they hear wolves howling in the distance and decide to respond by howling back. They rush into the room, but Travis is under the influence of mushrooms and is unable to think clearly. Jackie is turned on and locked in the storage room by the girls. They all switch their attention to Travis and begin kissing him while they do so. Travis eventually flees from them due to the unpleasantness of the situation. Misty discovers Coach Ben is gay in the woods and goes into a tailspin, while Natalie rushes back to the cottage, where she discovers Jackie begging for help in the locked room. The girls’ sobs resound through the woods as they after Travis after letting him free. With Lottie in command, she places a pinecone in Travis’ mouth and instructs Shauna to sever his head. Shauna, on the other hand, notices a stag in his place. Natalie and Jackie, thankfully, arrive just in time to save him. Back in the present, Jeff sits down with Shauna and discusses her harrowing experiences in the wilderness.

Jeff has known what has happened between them for the entire time, and despite the affair and all of the difficulties they’ve faced together, he still wants to support her and remain by her side. Following this conversation, Shauna calls Tai, who then calls Nat. She mentions tracking out the blackmailer as she decides to stick to her initial claim about Adam being the blackmailer. Nat and Tai eventually arrive, and Shauna proudly displays the planted bag while fabricating a story about the two getting into an altercation. She also displays her writings from the woods, claiming Adam took them. Nat, on the other hand, has contacts and is still waiting for more information concerning the financial transfer from the bank teller. This is almost probably going to happen in the following chapters. Unsure what else to do, Nat comes up with the brilliant idea of enlisting Misty’s assistance in moving the body and cleaning up the crime scene.

Jessica, on the other hand, has a way of manipulating her, and despite being chained up, she manages to persuade Misty to open up and confess the truth about what happened in the woods. At least in the eyes of the general people. Nat, on the other hand, shows up at her home and throws a spanner in the works. She apologizes before getting right to the point: she needs Adam’s assistance in shifting his body.
