The Blacklist Season 11 Episode 15 Recap: The Hat Trick

The Blacklist episode being discussed begins with Red (James Spader) in an odd circumstance. He is standing in the middle of the road, looking unconcerned as a truck approaches from behind. The truck suddenly swerves, almost missing Red. He picks up a coin off the ground and considers it good luck.

Later in the episode, Red presents the Task Force with three different instances. The first case concerns Rebecca Anders, a personal injury attorney, who is allegedly taking from her clients (Tara Westwood). It is discovered after an investigation that she did in fact manipulate settlements to pay for her opulent lifestyle. Even though it’s not a complicated issue, they manage to settle it by exposing the lawyer’s unethical behavior.

The second scenario is a fertility clinic that experienced a power outage and lost all of its embryos. Malik and Dembe look into Red’s suspicions of criminal activity. They link the hack to Aimee and Alexander Addabbo, who run the clinic’s security firm. It is revealed that Todd Wagner, their bitter stepson, destroyed the embryos in an effort to safeguard his inheritance and out of resentment. Todd is detained once the case is closed.

The third example involves heart attack deaths that appear to be suspicious at a hospital. Herbie, a member of the Task Force, learns that the deaths were brought on by too much potassium. They discover proof implicating Dawn Jacobus, a wandering nurse, as the “murdering angel” they are looking for. However, it turns out that the deaths were not the result of deliberate homicide but rather an IV bag manufacturing fault. The matter is resolved after the identification of the accountable parties.

Rebecca Anders, Todd Wagner, and the CEO of Kolbeck Medical Solutions are the three people engaged in these instances, and the Task Force discovers after cracking the cases that they are also board members of a non-profit organization called Wildsociety. They come across a $52.5 million donation that was made anonymously by Steven Holman, one of Red’s favorite aliases. The board members who are accused of wrongdoing within Wildsociety are sacked as a result of this bonus case.

Realizing that the Task Force has been advancing Red’s objectives yet again infuriates Ressler. However, Red clarifies that his most recent charitable deeds and distribution of his fortune are all a part of his goal to make the world a better place for his granddaughter, Agnes.

Ressler continues to assist Jonathan Pritchard as part of his own journey as he works through the apologies procedure in the subplot. Dembe and the audience are concerned by Red’s actions and statements that he is “fine” throughout the entire episode, leading them to believe that there may be more going on with Red than is initially apparent.

Overall, the episode investigates these distinct incidents, which ultimately link thanks to the relationships between the people involved. The Task Force is concerned about Red’s motivations and recent behavior and wonders what his genuine goals are.
