Tales of the Walking Dead Episode 1 Recap “Evie / Joe”

The American post-apocalyptic horror drama anthology tv series Tales of the Walking Dead was created by Scott M. Gimple and Channing Powell. On August 14, 2022, AMC broadcast its debut. It is a spin-off of The Walking Dead. Terry Crews as Joe and Olivia Munn (Evie)  as mismatched travelers who are both looking for a connection. Joe is a doomsday survivalist who is grudgingly breaking out of solitude, while Evie is much more of a people person, albeit not without abilities. Even though they are frequently at each other’s throats, they will soon realize—as most heroes do in the realm of the Dead—that they are each other’s best shot at survival.

As the show began, we were introduced to Joe, a friendly survivor who was living comfortably in his bunker a year after the end of the world. Until his beloved Doberman was killed by walkers, that is. Joe, who had been suddenly single, made the decision to get on his modified motorcycle and head out on the open road in the hopes of running with another doomsday survivalist with whom he had been flirtatiously communicating online before the end of the world.

Long before Joe arrived at his destination, he was caught in a trap set by hippie-type Evie, who was ready to get started herself in order to see whether she and her estranged husband Steven could still work things out. Joe was made to serve as Evie’s involuntarily chauffeur, handcuffs and all because her motorcycle had a death switch. Joe’s initial dislike of Evie grew over time, as you’d rather anticipate. Yes, she really irritated him. But she also expressed regret for prying into his affairs by reading his journal against his desires, and she was kind enough to cover him with a blanket as they slept outside in the woods. They finally grew closer as friends after successfully fending off a gang of walkers together. For a change, he even permitted her to drive!

During a pit stop, Joe requested Evie to look through his journal to find out the precise location of his mystery woman’s house. She was familiar with the region because Evie’s husband was allegedly camped out nearby. Unfortunately, Joe forgot to watch the bike when she had a “By George, I’ve got it!” moment, allowing a thief to take it and leave a lamb in its stead. Joe attacked Evie in a rage and even proclaimed himself to be on Team Steve. She then dialed Joe’s number all the way outside. She screamed, “You were so busy trying to survive the end of the world, yours never got started!”Following an exchange of scathing words, Joe parted ways with Evie and eventually found his way to the house of his mystery woman. He met Sandra face to face and said, “The apocalypse has done you good. However, it had not had a dramatic impact on her mental state. She had him roasted on a pot brownie, painted her face to look like Baby Jane Hudson, and started threatening him with a butcher knife before you could say, “Oh, sh—t.”

Evie and the lamb went to Sandra’s after Evie had the reassurance she needed from Steven she didn’t find him, but a painting that suggested he hadn’t disliked her after all. Evie was a connoisseur and refused the madwoman’s poisoned brownie when she served it to her again. Evie was able to protect herself and release Joe from a chokehold just in time for Sandra to launch a weapon into his would-be girlfriend’s chest as she went full-on Fatal Attraction running about with a knife. The following morning, Joe thanked Evie for coming back for him and expressed his regret. She had been correct. His life was a waste.
