Lois, Clark, and Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) look into Bruno Mannheim’s ties to Intergang in this episode. They discover that Bruno’s wife Peia, alias Onomatopoeia, is a supervillain who has slain innocents, criminals, and the terminally ill in order to further Bruno’s nefarious agenda. John Henry Irons, meanwhile, learns that his son is seeing Matteo Mannheim (guest star Spence Moore II), the son of Bruno and Peia, and he does what he can to avoid Natalie from getting involved with him. When John Henry shows up at the restaurant where Natalie, Bruno, and Peia are eating dinner, Bruno’s guys beat him up. Eventually, Peia loses consciousness after she loses control of her abilities during the struggle. Superman rushes Peia to the hospital after she nearly dies. Her condition is stabilized. In addition, Jonathan begins his volunteer career as a firefighter, complete with a new uniform and the experience of seeing a building go up in flames on his first day on the job. At the end of the episode, Bizarro Superman opens his eyes, signaling that the trials were successful and that the true crisis is just beginning.
