The scary Swedish book that was made into two movies and several plays is now a TV show Let the Right One In. It’s still weird, but it’s more convenient because it’s about a father (played by the great Demián Bichir) who will do anything to defend and care for his daughter Eleanor, who will always be 12 years old (Madison Taylor Baez). This poor child has been hurt by the bite of an unknown creature for the past ten years. Signs: can’t get enough human blood, don’t like the sun, have superhuman strength. As in other versions, Eleanor makes friends with Ian Foreman, a young boy who is being picked on at school. This time, however, his mother (Anika Noni Rose) is an NYPD investigator who is looking into brutal murders that indicate some other being like Eleanor is on the loose nearby. A scientist, played by Grace Gummer, is derived into the search for a cure for vampires for very personal reasons.
