Pop singer Selena Gomez will appear as Mabel Mora, in Only Murders in the Building, for the first time in a full television series, following Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place (Alex Russo). Selena Gomez who is a huge crime fan herself, and even attended CrimeCon Chicago with her mother in February 2020.
Also starring, Steve Martin as Charles and Martin Short as Oliver, who will be Mabel’s neighbors, whom she team up with and investigates mysterious activities in her apartment building.
Steve Martin and Martin Short have been doing comedy together for a long time, having starred in classic films including Three Amigos and Father of the Bride.
In addition to starring in the show, Steve Martin also wrote the concept behind its synopsis and co-produced it with John Hoffman. In addition, he executive-produced with Gomez, Short, Jamie Babbitt, Jess Rosenthal and This Is Us producer Dan Fogelman.
In his first major TV role, Aaron Dominguez plays Mabel’s love interest, as Oscar. Fans were assuming that both are budding couples in real life. But Gomez confirmed that the two were not together and were only filming one scene for the series. Additionally, Amy Ryan (The Office) and Nathan Lane (Modern Family) have also been confirmed.
