LOTR: The Rings of Power: Will Legolas or his father appear?

LOTR The Rings of Power

The Rings of Power set thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, involves Galadriel and Elrond. Legolas is also an eternal Elf, therefore there is a chance that he, too, might return to the franchise in The Rings of Power. Let’s break out the spoiler! With Galadriel and Elrond in LOTR: The Rings of Power, will Legolas or his father appear?

Legolas is one of the nine members of the Fellowship who set out to destroy the One Ring and is a Sindar Elf from the Woodland Realm. He has previously starred in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings adaptations, such as The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,(played by Orlando Bloom) and is well known for his famous kills and superb showmanship, and notably epic combat against an Oliphaunt in The Return of the King. He has a strong friendship with the dwarf Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) whom he invites as the first Dwarf to travel to Valinor. Legolas could appear in LOTR: The Rings of Power, but it’s improbable. His age in the Lord of the Rings movies is 2931, although Aragorn is also born in 2931, thus this is likely a conjecture. Legolas’ birth year was never mentioned in Tolkien’s novels, thus no one really knows how old he is.

What Happens to Arondir in LOTR: The Rings of Power? Is he dead?

Will Legolas’s father Thranduil appear in LOTR: The Rings of Power?

Legolas isn’t born yet, but his father and grandparents are alive in The Rings of Power. Thranduil is the son of Orophor, who founds the Silvan Woodland Realm and dies in the Second Age’s Battle of Dagorlad. Thranduil becomes King of the Woodland Realm and Greenwood the Great after Orophor’s death. Sauron infests Greenwood with orcs, renaming it Mirkwood. All of these events occur in the Second and early Third Age, at the end of The Rings of Power’s history. Thranduil and Orophor are less recognized in Middle-earth lore, so it could be intriguing to see their storylines unfold and learn Legolas’ ancestry. This is a better Lord of the Rings callback than involving Legolas, whose appearance in The Hobbit felt forced. The history of Middle-Elves earth will continue to unfold in Amazon’s The Rings of Power.
