First, watch the trailer for John Lewis: Good Trouble

Dawn Porter’s stirring documentary chronicles the legacy of the late Civil Rights legend and US Representative John Lewis, from his childhood, his inspiring family, and his fateful 1957 meeting with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to his over 60 years of social activism and legislative action on voting rights, gun control, health-care reform, and immigration.

Using a primary cinema verité approach, Porter combines rare archival footage and recent interviews with the congressman — who passed away on July 17 at the age of 80, during his 17th term in the House of Representatives — with commentary from political leaders, Congressional colleagues, and other prominent figures in Lewis’s life.

John Lewis: Good Trouble movie released on July 3rd in USA.
