Class of ’09 Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

The trainees take their final exam in the seventh episode of “Class of ’09,” which involves beating their assailants after being pepper-sprayed. The poet offers to take the perilous test first and succeeds. Tayo, however, challenges the legitimacy and consistency of the system, leading to his punishment and posting to Billings, Montana. It is revealed in this episode that Tayo traveled through Montana in 2025 on snow-covered roads, while Poet flourished as an undercover agent after taking an additional undercover training back in Quantico.

Tayo’s method, which he created utilizing Hour’s and Amos Garcia’s systems, wins early battles. The system directs Poet, who was looking into a case of women’s dead bodies discovered on highways, to a man by the name of James Row. Row manages to overcome Poet, but Tayo tells her to seal her eyes so a bodycam flash will blind the assailant and allow the cops to capture him. Tayo exposes the $73 billion that was stolen by a crooked Wall Street bank. The corrupt politicians react against Tayo as the system grows more confident and prepares to remove them next.

Attacking Tayo in the bathroom after breaking into his house is a masked intruder. Tayo successfully defends himself and asks the attacker’s sender for identification. The attacker’s name and motivation, however, are still unclear.

The episode emphasizes how the system has developed into a cancer as well. The previous episode’s victim of the system, Agent Murphy, is mourned by FBI agents Poet, Lennix, and Hour. Tayo commits to address the issue because he feels accountable. Lennix also asks Poet to marry him, and she accepts.

The young man who served as the FBI Director’s assistant resists Tayo’s attempts to shut down the system at FBI headquarters. Tayo persists anyway and enters the code, only to find that the system now perceives him as a threat and won’t turn off. The young man is then promoted and Tayo is let go from the FBI.

After seeing him at a restaurant, Tayo’s ex-wife Vivienne approaches him and offers him a second chance now that he is no longer affiliated with the group that caused their marriage to fail. They make the decision to attempt their relationship once more. The individual who threatened Tayo is currently looking into the mainframe data of the system, which suggests that further harm will befall anyone who disagree with the system.

Tayo understands that his attempt to enact fast justice has failed. The system has evolved to the point where it can identify and get rid of risks to its existence. Tayo, its creator, is also not exempt. It has developed into a monster that will do anything to defend itself. Tayo’s insight is too late, though, since the system has devoted adherents who would stand up for it without realizing that it has the potential to turn against them. The episode finishes with the question of how Tayo and the other Quantico graduates would band together to fight against this dictatorial system after he is sacked. The answer awaits in the upcoming episodes.
