Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 20 Recap

In Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 20, we follow Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), a dedicated paramedic who discovers that the previous shift failed to restock the ambulance. Later, while responding to an emergency, Brett is forced to treat a newborn baby in distress with substandard equipment because the OBGYN kit hadn’t been restocked. Brett brought this to Chief Boden’s attention, who assured him that he would handle the situation. In the next scene, Brett and her team rush to the scene of a distress call involving a homeless man named Shep who is trapped under a truck.

Stella Kidd makes an effort to assist Shep (Eric Peterson), a victim who has been trampled under a trash can. Shep, who is homeless, tells Kidd that nobody cares about him and that it doesn’t matter if he passes away. Kidd responds by informing Shep that she loves him and that nowadays the Chicago Fire Department values him above all others. Shep, who is shortly released from the toppled garbage, understands the message. He returns to Kidd at age 51 to express his gratitude for her warm remarks. Sam Carver, who Shep appears to dislike right away, is standing next to Kidd. Shep says angrily to Carver, “She doesn’t love you!” after Kidd is out of earshot. Carver, who is not even in a romantic connection with Kidd, is troubled by his tone. Shep merely misinterpreted the circumstances.

A worried Kidd wants to take the gloves and cap that Shep unintentionally left behind to the firehouse to his refuge. Carver, though, offers to do it himself after hearing what Shep told him. We find out Shep isn’t staying there when Carver shows up at the shelter. It turns out that his medication is essential to his mental health because when he isn’t taking it—as the guy at the shelter suggests Shep is – he behaves violently and aggressively, especially toward women. Cut to Kidd by herself inside her apartment complex. Shep wants to come upstairs, so she gets a buzz at her bottom front door. She refuses and panics, calling Carver, who dashes to Stella’s to check on her. At the apartment complex, Carver runs into Shep, and the two begin to fight. Although Shep did attack Carver initially, it appears like Carver is beating Shep up when the police (who Kidd called) show up. With this revelation, they immediately take Carver into custody.

In the meantime, Kylie, a woman who had been struggling with anxiety over the firefighter exam, successfully passed with the unwavering support of Kidd. In the final scene of the episode, Sylvie Brett uncovers the heartbreaking truth that the baby she valiantly saved was left behind by her own mother, who came to the difficult realization that she was not yet prepared for motherhood.
