Abbott Elementary Season 2 Episode 1 Recap

Last season, Gregory became a full-time teacher, Janine broke up with Tariq, and Ava became Abbott Elementary’s principal. Abbott Elementary’s season 2 premiere, “Development Day,” as they prepare for the new school year. Last school year, Janine’s breakup with Tariq became official when he moved out. Janine is single, has a new hairstyle, and has a new school year. Don’t forget the side. The episode reveals that she’s privately struggling. Jacob notices she’s off when she has trouble paying her rent (Tariq’s 20% contribution helped). Gregory is called for an intervention, but Janine says she’s prepared. Gritty, Thee Flyers’ mascot, will surprise the pupils on the first day of school as proof. She’s organized Development Week.

Janine’s automobile is booted since Tariq gave her 7 tickets. Janine couldn’t afford the tickets, so Ava forced her to park on the street to make place for an Eagles tailgate she was organising to raise money (“for the school”). Insanely, Janine tried to move her booted automobile. What causes her leave the car? Gritty visits school. Mistimed. Janine reveals her emotional and financial struggles post-Tariq. She didn’t want the breakup to effect her, but it does. Still, she’s sad and struggling. Barbara and Melissa tell her to move through her troubles and not attempt to get over them, and that she’s only starting out; things will get better.

Gritty gives her a hug, which Ava destroys by taking a selfie. Jacob loans Janine money to help with her financial situation towards the end of the episode (and Gregory having noticed her side part). 2019 will be wonderful. Gregory is a first-year teacher balancing the district’s learning objectives. Gregory, being Gregory, comes up with a meticulous strategy for spacing everything out throughout the year, which Barbara attempts to dissuade him against. – Gregory and Janine continue dancing. Gregory as a worried friend (thanks, Jacob). That gossip asks Janine how she’s doing post-Tariq (and if she’s dating… Greg). Janine asks him if he’s still with Taylor. Gregory spirals over his lack of control after seeing Janine’s collapse. He realises what’s expected of teachers year after year and fears failing. Barbara gives him sound advise and inspires confidence that he can manage their obstacles. If you try and care, that’s always enough.

Barbara is fresh off her hot girl cruise summer (land Barbara is different from sea Barbara). What’s first? Preparing her classroom for a wheelchair-using student. Despite Barbara’s desire to help the pupil, the district is giving her the runaround, and she’s tired of it. Pray). Helping Ava arrange the school’s funds helped her have a ramp erected for her student, but not a special desk. She tells Gregory this is another example of doing what you can. Gregory finds an ADA desk the school had previously used in the basement and sets it up without Barbara’s knowledge, bringing her to tears on the first day of school when she can satisfy her student’s needs. Jacob taught in Peru and learned ASL over the summer. Jacob won’t let you forget either one. It helped when he met an ASL-using pupil. Lovely. When everyone saw Janine’s hardships, he loaned her money at his own expense. His student loan payment. President Joey B will forgive the rest of the debt soon. Our favorite Philly 11 has a combined 2nd and 3rd-grade class this year. A pricey charter school has snatched all the high-scoring 3rd graders, leaving too few for a complete class.
