‘9-1-1’ Season 7 Episode 1 Review: Abandon Ships

911-S7E1-Recap

After Fox cancelled the show,  ABC added Ryan Murphy’s popular first-responder thriller 9-1-1 to its schedule, which was a big surprise.  The first episode of the season hinted at danger at sea for Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby (Peter Krause), who were on their delayed honeymoon on a cruise ship.

The episode was mostly about Athena, the police officer who is on holiday and thinks that someone is up to no good among the passengers. Bobby, on the other hand, doesn’t care about her worries because he thinks she’s just trying to avoid being alone. This dynamic makes it possible for the two characters to have an interesting argument, which gives their friendship more depth.

Back at Station 118, Chimney (Kenneth Choi), on the other hand, is worried that his marriage might be getting old. This story shows how hard it can be to be married, which gives Chimney’s character more emotional depth.

In a separate but important plot point, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) finds problems with the way his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) thinks about relationships. In this story, the difficulties of being a parent and teaching a child with various points of view are explored.

The most memorable call of the week is about a couple who can’t stay apart after having a hot tub tryst. Not only does this call make us laugh, but it also reminds us of the strange things that happen every day to first responders.

‘9-1-1’ Season 7 Episode 1 sets the stage for an exciting and emotional season, offering more thrilling rescues and interesting character growth.
